Theater Etiquette
Understanding and practicing proper theater etiquette ensures an enjoyable experience for everyone in the audience and helps maintain a safe environment for performers. Disruptions can not only disturb fellow attendees but may also pose safety risks on stage.
Here are some important etiquette guidelines to follow:
- Arrive Early: Plan to arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before showtime. This allows ample time for parking and finding your seat. Late arrivals may be asked to wait until intermission or an appropriate pause in the performance to be seated.
- Be Mindful of Your Appearance: Avoid wearing hats, large hair accessories, or hairstyles that may obstruct the view of those behind you.
- Silence All Devices: Please silence all cell phones, alarms, and electronic devices before the show begins. Refrain from using them during the performance. An intermission follows Act I for your convenience.
- No Photography or Video Recording: Taking photos or videos during the performance is strictly prohibited. This is distracting to the performers and violates copyright laws. Audience members who do not follow this policy may be asked to leave.
- Minimize Disruptions: Refrain from talking, whispering, singing, or humming during the performance. Concessions are available in the foyer during intermission.
- Restroom Use: Use the restroom before the show starts or during intermission. If you anticipate needing frequent restroom breaks, consider selecting an aisle seat for easier access.
- Respect the Space: Keep your feet on the floor and avoid placing them on seats. Children should not kick seats, climb on them, or play in the aisles.
- Applause is Encouraged: Feel free to applaud enthusiastically at the end of scenes or dances—performers truly appreciate it.
- Remain Seated Until the End: Please wait until the final bows are complete before exiting the theater.
- Young Audience Members: Attending the theater can be a special experience for children. Choose an age-appropriate performance and discuss expected behavior beforehand. Each child must have their own seat and remain seated during the show. For safety and consideration of others, children should not sit on laps or be left unattended.
- Courtesy Matters: Be respectful to fellow audience members, volunteers, and staff at all times.
- Sit Properly and in Your Assigned Seat: Sitting properly helps ensure that everyone can enjoy an unobstructed view. Please remain in your assigned seat to avoid confusion or disruption.
Dress Code
While there is no formal dress code for our performances, most patrons choose to dress in business casual attire. If you are celebrating a special occasion, feel free to dress up for the evening. A nice pair of jeans is also perfectly acceptable. Please note that theaters can sometimes be chilly, so we recommend bringing a sweater or jacket for your comfort.
